Hi, I'm Sophie. Welcome to my website: stylosophie.
Style + Sophie + Philosophy = Stylosophie.com
'Stylo' also means 'pen' in French. And as we writers know, the pen is mightier than the sword.
That phrase rings especially true to me. I learned at an early age that I am far more eloquent in the written form than the spoken form. As a shy kid, I relied on writing as a way to better express myself and have always appreciated how words can be crafted to communicate bigger ideas.
This prompted me to enrol in the Master of Media in Journalism and Communication (MMJC) program at Western University, where I learned the danger of a single story, the importance of the em-dash and the power of spin. I am a journalist/communicator/storyteller from the 6ix, born and raised. I have a passion for fashion (sorry for the cliché), lifestyle, and telling women’s stories. I have previously worked at ELLE Canada, the Western Gazette and am currently the Assistant Editor at The Bullet.
To get ~personal~ there are few things I love more than a good, juicy burger. I’m a reality TV junkie with strong opinions and spend my free time reading, going to barre or pilates classes and online shopping (arguably too much).
A lot of people think fashion is frivolous, but it’s so incredibly influential. I believe it’s possible to write about fashion and lifestyle in a smart way.
